We keep hearing about happy couples taking the next step in their relationships and we could not be more thrilled for each and every one of them. At spaces kennebunkport we absolutely love our pets! Some days we cannot resist bringing our babies to work with us. They are superb workers!

Lulu specializes in pricing merchandise.

Tilly makes sure that everything we sell is soft and comfortable. She loves our John Robshaw bedding collection.

Mia handles quality control.

She is very excited about this great dog toy. It comes in 5 different colors and each one makes a different sound, a cute sound, not one of those loud annoying sounds that makes you cringe every time your dog chews it. There is even a cute storage bin to hold all those toys your pets (or you) just can't live without.

It seems that each of us knows at least one person who is expecting or now has a little person crawling around their home. That means lots of baby talk and even more baby showers. We are a bit baby crazy here at spaces kennebunkport, it may be that our store is full of females (even the dogs are girls) or that we just love babies and baby stuff. We have a couple of unique gifts that would be great for that special baby, your next baby shower or perhaps you have your own baby bump to buy for.

Black Friday came and went and while many of us stayed strong and skipped out on all of the craziness, most of us couldn't help braving the crowds in hopes of great shopping and even better deals. The holidays are just around the corner and if you are like me, you have already started your shopping or at least a list of items you'd like to purchase for those closest to you . Here at spaces we have begun the process of holiday decorating and have chosen white and silver to grace our large display window this Christmas. From our little white tree covered in mirrored round ornaments to an array of beautiful silver frames, our window is just the start of many great gift possibilities. We are addicted to all things shiny and sparkly. Being surrounded by these things have a way of making you feel happy and alive. Here are a few shiny and sparkly items we have surrounding us in the store.

I admit it, I am a book junkie, not only do I love them for their informative and educational purposes, I love them because they are beautiful. They help us cook, they help us decorate our homes, they even help us create some very yummy cocktails. Books look wonderful stacked on a table or packed into a bookshelf. Not only are they a great investment that you will have forever, they make the best gifts. You can always find that special book to fit even the most picky person. spaces kennebunkport was pleased to have been chosen to create a lounge for the Maine magazine launch party. Below is a photo of the lounge before the partying began!

Our lounge design featured the felt rocks that we are debuting in our shop. These rocks are easily confused for real ones and were quite a conversation piece at the party.

Hand crafted by South African artist Ronel Jordaan, these rocks are created using all natural materials in an eco-friendly process. The workers that Ronel has trained to assist in the felting process are previously unemployed women living in the Johannesburg area.

These beautiful, whimsical replicas of nature can be purchased in a variety of colors and sizes through the shop at spaceskennebunkport.com. We love the "tiny" as a throw pillow, or pull a "large" one up for an extra seat or foot stool. The "boulder" is the perfect napping lounge or as a fun perch in a children's space. Best of all, many styles are appropriate for outdoor use!

Spring has sprung in Kennebunkport and with it we are experiencing new beginnings at spaces kennebunkport! After much procrastination, Anna and I are thrilled to be launching our website spaceskennebunkport.com where we will be offering a selection of our favorite products from our shop. We have added a gift registry and have outlined our design services.

Check us out in the june/july 2009 issue of Traditonal Home. In the article The Last Resort you will find a description of the dining area of Lucky, a cottage that anna and I designed for a decorator's show house in june 2008. We hope that you will run out and buy a copy and of course book a stay at Lucky www.hiddenpondmaine.com .

Here are some other rooms in the cottage not featured in the article.

The screened porch of Lucky was a big hit as it was lined with real grass and bluestone. we decorated the deck with all white furnishings for contrast. Mason Dixon, of MCD landscaping, made our vision come alive by laying sod on top of a water proof lining. he then added the bluestone tiles setting the stage for our design. The tough part came later when he had to water and trim the grass to keep it in pristine condition for the two weeks of the show house tours. Thank you mason!!

In the master bedroom a contemporary four poster bed is softened using sheers with embroidered graphic details he side tables are made from ceramic planters, with nubby texture, filled with sand and topped with glass. The lamps are mother of pearl.

We liked the sculptural nature of the bedroom chair which we repainted to match our decor. The dresser was made from the unfinished vanity that we removed from the bathroom. A little stain, some shelves and new hardware and we had a whole new piece of furniture for about $45.

The master bath vanity is constructed of a half round, white resin, faux bois table with a vessel sink. It is situated in front of wallpaper depicting a forest scene.
